Dealing with chronic pain from stroke

I suffered a stroke just over a year ago…I turned my head sharply to the right, apparently I had a bulging disc that di-sected the artery feeding my brain stem. I immediately got a blinding pain in my head. Because I wasn’t in any risk groups (non-smoker, non-drinker, always fit, low blood pressure, 35 yrs old), it took two months and dozens of tests to figure out what had happened. I never had paralysis, but my right side had slightly decreased dexterity, and my left side cannot feel temperature or pin pricks, yet is hypersensitive. About 15 months later, I’m trying to find a job while dealing with a lot of pain, and trying to find pain meds that work. Some days are better than others…my left side feels foreign, and hurts a great deal in the morning. I’m dealing, but it is very difficult sometimes.
