Brain Stroke

I suffered a brain Stroke on 1st May 2001 and recovered almost 90% from it. I was paralysed [paralyzed] on the left side. I could not move my legs, toes, hand fingers or talk properly.

I was treated by an excellent Neuro-surgeon Dr. Vincent Thamburaj from Apollo Hospital, Chennai. I had an good physio-therapist who helped me to regain my status. She treated me for 4 months, twice daily for 1 hour. Later I went to Kottakal in Kerala, India in September 2001, where I was given full body oil massage for 60 days vigorously. Later I came back and went to gym regularly and exercised for 2 hrs daily. I also go for oil massage every 6 months to rejunevate my nerves.

I am completely normal now and can drive a car, type letters in a Computer and be independant. Regular exercising has helped me a lot and nobody can tell that I am a Stroke patient unless I told them. I even went to Sabarimala Temple (2kms uphill) by walk. God’s grace I am normal now. I take medicines for my blood-pressure & cholostal [cholesterol] and thinning of my blood regularly. I go for regular walks in the evenings.

I had a stroke in May, 2006, at the age of 59, a right side CVA that affected my left leg, left arm and hand, and my speech. I have good insurance that has allowed me to get the therapy I needed. The O.T. and I agreed that I should stop therapy in May, 2007 because my progress had stopped. [more..]
