Burn Victim

I was six yrs. old when i was in a fire accident. I’m 18 now living a pretty normal life,or at least, normal as could be accepted for somebody like me. I go to school, public, and have friends. I attended normally and do everything anybody else would do, i fell back a year because i had to be in the hospital for a long time and than after finally coming back home I had to alot of rehab.

You had to learn the simpliest things. Walking, eating, tying your shoes. In the beining after have skin graphets for some surgeries I would have to learn how to walk all over again. You had to do mouth excerises so that you could at lest open your mouth as much as other people could, to prevent scarring. scariing is the main problem in burn victims. some scars prevented you from i=opening your mouth wide open or to raise your hand high. alot of things i could least could probably help you as it’s been 12 yrs i’ve lived with this and that fact it happened to me as i was a child, i can tell you it’s not fun.

The stares you get at school, shopping, walking outside, and sometimes visitors at home who just didn’t expct to see what they saw. I’ve seen many other burn victims and i can honestly say i might be a bad case but they’re are defently alot worst than i am.
Like I said I live a pretty normal life. I get angry and sad and i am happy most of the time. I go to school normally, just the weekly clinics and surgeries every couple of months. Probably thinking it’s been 12 yrs. why is she still having surgeries. Reconstruction surgery, would be the answer.

No this might be your choice to have or not. As for me i am happy with how i look and i don’t mind it, but it doesn’t mean i don’t want to look as far normal as i can. I do have surgeries alot. Go to the clinic every week at least most of the time occasionally my doctor will say see you in a month sometimes he say two weeks or two months. really it depends on the surgery, and if anything is wrong. I mean i gotta admint i have a lot of absences in school, but they understand that your not the same as other children at school who are healthy inside and out. But i need to have surgeries during school and summer breaj. If i did them only on summer break they would take yrs just to finish. Longer than the 12 yrs i’ve spent of my life now.

And us burnt victims we’re not like other people who decide to have plastic surgery. We can’t have five different surgeries all at once. 2 and we barelt can handle. we’re in more pain depending on which surgery it is and sometimes one surgery is all the surgeon and you can handle. For instense chin reconstruction can take up to 8 hrs. 8 hrs the surgeon operating. That alot of time to be working straight and also alot of time for you to be under anesthesia i mean i haven’t done this surgery yet, but my cousin has and it’s painful recovery. but the results are great.

i don’t have time for more as i have so mych stories i could tell about this topic, but i don’t have that much time. school hospital, surgeriies, and not to mention work.

Alot has to be done and planned. Maybe i’ll come back and maybe somebody has shared a story of theres.
