Mom

by: karen on Wed, Oct 10 2007

One Thursday night my mom was complaining about stomach pain. She thought it was something she ate. It continued Friday and Saturday morning. By the afternoon, she did not know who we were and where she was. We than rushed her to the hospital. They told us that she had a heart attack and a stroke. On Sunday morning, they told us that she had aortic valve endocartitis [endocarditis] and that she was very, very ill. On Monday, her breathing was very labored so they put a ventilator in and started antiboitics [antibiotics]. A few days later, they told us her kidneys were failing, then her liver, and than her lungs. After two weeks, they wanted to insert a trake. My family had a big decision to make because we knew our mother would never want this. We planned a meeting with all her doctors and they said they didn’t know how long she could live like this. We decided to take her off the vent and let her go peacefully. She made it two minutes then she passed away. I miss her every day. I hope this can help anyone. Good luck and God bless
