My son age 11 months was diagnosed with KD a week about a week ago. He First Started with really high fever 105.8 .

I took him to the outpatients clinic at the hospital.Apart from the fever he also had his body full of rash and his hands and feet were swollen.
His lips were cracked and bleeding.
The doctor checked him out and gave him Nurofen.
They left me waiting for 3 hours with my son to see if the fever came down and he stayed asleep.

(It didn’t)

The doctor said that my son had an ear & throat infection, and that the rash was caused by the fever.

He prescribed my son Zinnat Antibiotics and sent me home.A few days later i had to rush again to the hospital.
The fever had been going on for Four days and the medecine wasn’t doing anything.
My son looked miserable ,pale, his eyes were so red that it was hard to look at him.
it was scary infact.
As soon as we arrived at the hospital & another doctor saw him he knew my son was not okay.

he rushed me in and told me that he would have to stay in hospital. .

..the next day a Paediatrician came to see him.

they took 6 tubes of blood samples and told us that he thinks it could be a disease called Kawasaki Disease.

we had to wait 2 days for the blood results……………

That same afternoon the doctor phoned the nurses at the childrens ward and told them to to tell us that he was sure that it was KD.
He came that night to see my son and said he was going to start the IVIG straight away & that he had to take aspirin.
After 24 hours my son was a different boy. the redness of the eyes had gone away, the swelling was much better, the fever was stable all along.
He made an appointment so that my son was seen by a cardiologist in Malaga (spain)

When we arrived there and the echo (echocardiogram) was finished he told us that my sons heart was damaged.
He said that the Coronary artery was damaged and inflammated and there was no cure for this.
He also said that there was another problem,my son had water fluid filled in the sac that surrounds the heart.
They told me to keep on giving my son the aspirin and the water would slowly go away.

Has this happend to anyone before?or is it very rare?

They gave me a leaflet explaining about KD as i had no idea and i had never heard about this disease.
It said that because of the aspirin i had to be careful if my son got a cold or sick because he could get reyer’s syndrome.
i have read about it and it is quite serious.

I need some more information about this Reyer’s syndrome, and would like to know if anyone has had problems with this before.
I also don’t know if it is normal about the water around the heart and the inflammated coronary artery.

I dont even know if this is dangerous.Im scared of losing my son…
