I feel as if I am under house arrest!

by: Greg on Mon, Jul 07 2008

I am a 47 year old male that has always took care of my health. I never used drugs or drank anything other that water, milk and fruit juices. I started having problems with temporary double vision about seven years ago. I had my eyes checked and nothing was wrong there. My small town medial doctor just passed it off so I decided to go to another doctor for testing. After several tests it was determined I had an abnormal echocardiogram and was sent to a specialist. I had another echocardiogram ran June 19th and the problem had progressed since February. I was diagnoised with Aortic stenosis and amy currently preparing for valve replacement. I had been having signs of this problem but I figured I was just getting old and attribituted it to that. I have mixed emotions not only with the thought of having to go thru this but I do not like the options of the longevity of the valves and the thought of having to have it done again later on in life. I do know my options are better than the diagnosis one of my co-workers received, inoperable cancer and lived only three months. Greg

  • Congenital aortic stenosis - by caper24 - (Mon, Jul 28 2008)
After 24 years of dealing with stenosis, I felt maybe I should share. I was born with stenosis along with a murmur and in layman’s terms “a hole in my heart”. [more..]
  • Rapid deteriorisation - by Euan - (Fri, Jul 18 2008)
After my doctor detected a heart murmer in 2003, I was dignosed with mild aortic stenosis (1.4cm). After two years, this had decreased to 1.1 cm. As I was fairly asymptomatic, I didn’t realise the “inevitability” of the worsening situation. [more..]
