My Miracle Man

2002, Eddie, my African American husband had been told he has hypertension He was and still is a 2 pack a day smoker. Nov. 23, 2002 daughter finds him on the floor, body shuting down, admitted to ICU next day surgery. He had a split in his aorta a foot long, chances of survival after surgery, 5% without, none. After surgery,(he had a repair done, they did not put in a stent, just a graft!) in medically induced coma, everytime he would withdraw, he had strokes about 7 of them that left him blind.

A friend of ours remembers the Doc. telling her his brain is dying and she smelt the death! After 3 months, he finally woke up and his first word he whispered to me was “home” he was admitted to a nursing home for rehabilition. I took him home 4 months later. He was off the kidney machine but he still could not walk, had a feeding tube, and wore diapers. He was getting better then had a relapse, he became an epaletic (mispelled) he began having sezuires. The Dr. said it is rare, but can be caused from previous
strokes. The Dr. gave him 6 months to live because of his multiple problems.

In 2008, (6 years later) Another trip to the ER where we were told he has Another Aortic dissection. His Anyuersim in his chest is 7.1, and the one in his stomache is 5cm. No one in Ok. would be able to repair it this time. We had only one option and that was to go to Houston Texas, Baylor College of Medicne. No! We are living on prayers, they could not give him a 50-50 chance he would make it out of surgery. This is Feb. 2009 God is good! Eddie is on 34 pills per day and a patch for pain. The Doctors, and can not understand why he is still alive! I can it is called faith and a good doctor. We went through 5 before we found one who is the best one! My husband is a miracle, his doctor also agreed. I don not know what will hapen to him, it has been a long journey but one anyone would take if they love their spouse. He is my best friend and so is God!
