Red rash that won’t go away - Really Erythema Multiforme?

I have been suffering with a rash since early Oct 07. I have been to my general practioner, an allergist and dermatologist The GP couldn’t figure it out, the allergist said it was not an allergy, and unfortunately the derm. couldn’t diagnose it b/c the rash had subsided too much on that day.

The problem is that it kind of goes away, but then comes back as bad as it originally was.

The rash started on my one palm of my hand, then began on the other. It remained on my hands for about a week and started spreading up my arms. Within another week, it covered my chest, back neck and face.

My GP thought it was hives and I was treated with streriods and other allergy meds. Those did not help.

During this time, I also ended up going to the ER three times because of problems in my esophogous. I was having the feeling of food caught down in my throat and it became harded to breathe (not typical closing of the throat, but more like pain).

The third time I was at work and came very close to passing out b/c of the pain. My co-worked said I turned purple so there was lack of oxygen.

Through all of this, I found Erythema Multiforme on the internet. It certainly looked like this, but I am not sure.

When I shared this with doctors, they would agree, but never thought of it on their own. The other telltale sign was cold sores on my lips, which the GP did not even take into account, even when I mentioned it.

The rash will almost go away, but then comes back. It’s kind of like this–

Day 1 a few spots on hands or fee only
Day 2 more spots on hands, feet, chest, back, stomach, just a few on face
Day 3 same as day 2 pain in throat begins to worsen
Day 4 full blown adding neck and face - throat pain there
Day 5 almost nothing
Day 6 back to day 1 again

Please help! I am afraid this will never go away. It’s been 5 or 6 weeks now.

My sister, 54, was recently hospitalized for 2-1/2 weeks on a psychiatric ward for depression The doctors discovered that, while she was depressed, she had a neurological problem that they could not diagnose.
